Tristan Montjoy Memorial Award

Tristan Montjoy

Former Fort St. John conservation officer Tristan Montjoy is being honoured with a new memorial award for students studying natural resource protection and management in B.C.

Before joining the conservation service, Montjoy grew up in Lillooet and excelled in the Bachelor of Natural Resource Protection program at Vancouver Island University before being stationed in Fort St. John. Unfortunately, Tristan passed away in the summer of 2021 and family and friends have created this award to commemorate him.

The award is available to a student in the Resource Management Officer Training or Bachelor of Natural Resource Protection program with selection based on positive attitude, support of classmates and commitment to their studies. Selection made by faculty with preference to an Indigenous learner.

Tristan played high level hockey and every single year he played he won the biggest heart award. That really speaks to who Tristan was and the award criteria was established reflect. He was always one of the hardest working guys in the room, always smiling, always positive, always happy to help.
